Co-written with Laurie Jacobson, the book recalls the workings of mid-century Hollywood, the decline of the old studio system, the rise of television, and the cultural shifts of the 1960s, including the Sunset Strip scene. Provost also discusses his efforts to step away from his child-star identity and build an adult life beyond the fictional Martin family farm. Inscribed by Author.

Exceptionally scarce speculative plan to rebuild Windsor and Eton towns, considering the present decay of both, the imminent arrival of the railway, and the desirability to increase space around the castle. The authors, Kyle and Kerl, provide arguments for their proposals, costings, and two signed, hand-coloured plans, showing the towns before and after implementation. Stock toned, with a little marking, but in general good order. Folded maps to rear show some offsetting from colour wash. Second map has short tear along one fold, but this minor. First map has pinholes to corners, suggesting that it was displayed before binding. Contemporary green cloth a little worn. One copy only in museums (V&A). 8vo. [1], 9pp + plans. Signed by Author(s).

Cecil, who was the best man at Churchill's wedding, was regarded as the finest orator of his generation. See his entry, and that of Ross, in the Oxford DNB. 1p, 4to. In good condition, lightly aged. Folded twice. Addressed to 'Dear Mr Provost' and signed 'Hugh Cecil'. He apologises for the late reply, but has 'been ill and until yesterday was strictly confined to my room here'. He has received too many letters to be able to reply to each. 'I therefore venture to enclose to you a brief Memorandum which I have drawn up dealing with the recent crisis in Foreign Affairs'. It is not clear what Cecil has done to elicit such a response, although 1935 was the year in which he published his 'The Communion Service as it might be'. Perhaps "Foreign Affairs" involved the Italians in Abyssinia(?).

See her entry in the Oxford DNB. 3pp, 12mo. Bifolium. In good condition, lightly aged. Folded twice for postage. Addressed to 'My dear Mrs Cowan' and signed 'Burdett Coutts -'. Thirty lines of text. The 'blind system' appears to have been a form of education for the blind, possibly involving a precursor of braille. (An advertisement by 'A Lady, who has the care of a Blind Child' in the Medical Times, 25 March 1876, offers 'First-class education given under the blind system.'). Lady Burdett-Coutts's handwriting is quirky, and the reading is not entirely clear: 'Although we had heard The Blind System in London we should have been very glad to have had the pleasure of coming to You and the Lord Provost when you so kindly bring the system into notice in Edinburgh but we have made it a rule not to go out of an Evening and we have declined so many Invitations we scarcely like to make Yours, though so exceptional an exception in fact we are both of us afraid for the only time I did go out to the Public [?] I caught cold - With Mrs [Burn's?] kind rememberances & regards with mine / I am / Yours Sincerely / Burdett Coutts -'.
