First printing. 63 pp., 9.5 x 9.5 inches. Perfect-bound in printed card covers. Text in Norwegian and English. Illustrated in color throughout. Very light shelfwear, otherwise as new. Born in Cairo and raised in Paris, Ghada Amer lives and works in New York. Best known for her embroidered works on canvas, many of which deal with… issues of gender and sexuality, her output also notably includes installations, works on paper, and other media. This monograph served as the catalogue for a traveling exhibition, and includes an essay, "Reading between the Threads," by curator Selene Wendt, and excerpts from a conversation with the artist, "Unscripted Desire," by Valerie Casell. "The submission of women to the tyranny of domestic life, the celebration of female sexuality and pleasure, the incomprehensibility of love, the foolishness of war and violence, and an overall quest for formal beauty, constitute the territory that she explores and expresses in her art." ("Ghada Amer: Love Has No End," Brooklyn Museum web site).
