G. Wells 'The War of the Worlds' in 1897, and, in this instance, the first appearance of short story 'The Red Stockade' by Dracula author Bram Stoker, illustrated by F. Lix. Abraham 'Bram' Stoker (1847-1912), Irish author, theatre manager, and personal assistant to Sir Henry Irving. He is now remembered synonymously with his 1897 Gothic horror novel Dracula.
