Hardcover. Condition: Sehr gut. Dust Jacket Condition: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. So long !

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Fine. First Edition. Hardback. Large 4to. 39 by 29 cms. Circa 200 pages Copiously illustrated in colour and black and white throughout. Signed (by Lou Reed and Mick Rock) deluxe edition in full black leather binding numbered '57' out of 350, from the larger edition of 2,000 , comprising contact sheet, album artwork and picture disc, contained within its cloth-bound box and printed cardboard mailing box as issued. Also 8 page publicity booklet for the 'Transformer Series'. The total edition was 2,000, but Reed died before he could sign all the 1,650 non-deluxe copies, he only did a few hundred, the later copies (not this) only bear his facsimile signature alongside Rock's signature. Illustrated in colour and in black and white throughout. Original full black gilt and white illustrated leather covers, spine lettered in gilt, cover design after the original album art, pictorial endpapers, gilt edges. Also enclosed is a vinyl with the tracks "Walk on the Wild Side" and "Coney Island Baby", and a print signed by Mick Rock in a black envelope. Housed in the original black cloth folding illustrated solander box, within the cardboard box as issued. A fine, as new copy, still in the original bespoke faintly used card mailin cardboard box. Lou Reed's 1972 album Transformer established his reputation as a solo artist, with Mick Rock providing the photograph used as the cover art. Rock continued to photograph Reed throughout the 1970s, and the present book gathers these photographs alongside commentary and recollections by Reed and Rock. Fine. Signedes.

First edition, first printing. SIGNED BY THE MISFIT OF NEW YORK As the emblem of misfit sentiments and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Lou Reed's unconventional trek from the Velvet Underground to his solo career upheaved 70s rock and roll and laid the groundwork for the New York punk scene that followed. Toeing the line of self-destruction, Reed cast off on his own, creating music and a stage presence that embodied the underside of New York, sinking into drug dens and searing lyricism. This collection of his lyrics and interviews offers insight not just into Reed's bondage-wearing public persona but his smaller thoughts, his love for Andy Warhol, and his awe standing in Wembley Stadium. This copy is signed by Reed on the half title page. Fine, in near fine dust jacket with gentle edge wear, and several light scratches to panels, in mylar cover. Publisher's quarter green cloth, in Matt Mahurin dust jacket ($18.95).

Add to basketPoster for an event held at the Public Theatre's Anspacher Auditorium, New York City, September 14, 1984, signed in metallic ink marker pen by the four named participants. Billboard greeted the project enthusiastically: "Music video, which involves just about every form of music, has now spawned a new short-form entertainment genre: poetry video. The initial poetry video clips were recently premiered at a pair of sold out shows. hosted by Lou Reed and fellow rock poet Jim Carroll [probably best remembered now as the author of The Basketball Diaries], the Sept. 14 program, which organizers called one of the biggest poetry events in U.S. history, featured live and video renditions of works by Allen Ginsberg, Anne Waldman and Bob Holman. According to Rose Lesniak, executive producer of the project. the example of music video and MTV provides a way of "commercializing" poetry in performance. 'We don't want to limit the appreciation of poetry to just the academic audience, we want to take performance poets and what they have to say and communicate it to the masses'." (13 October 1984). The event was followed by a reception at Danceteria. Library Hub has llistings for several copies of the VHS tapes, and one - Utah State University - for the programme, but none for this striking poster. Evocative souvenir of an 80s New York art scene moment, linking two major American countercultural figures. Ginsberg's portrait of "Lou Reed, Poet-musician" at the make-up table backstage for this event was published in Allen Ginsberg Photographs. Original monochrome photographic poster with titles in yellow (585 x 430 mm). Mounted and framed in a black wax frame. Minor creasing to top left-hand corner, and a few minor edge-splits and chips, but overall very good.
