Publishers' grey quarter buckram with paper-covered boards; gilt titles to grey leather spine label; fore-edge and lower edge uncut. Cloth lightly foxed, with surface scuff to lower board; spine tips and corners a little rubbed. A hint of sunning to top edge of upper board. Minor foxing to text-block edge otherwise contents clean and crisp with MacAulay armorial bookplate to front paste-down bearing the motto "Tha Cunnarton Mils" which translates as "Dangers are Sweet" from Scottish gaelic. A very good copy. Second of only two full-length supernatural novels by prolific poet and author Walter De La Mare (1873-1950), these supernatural novels and his eerie short stories were admired by master of the macabre H.
