Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks. Text block edges have deckle fore and foot edges. The translation of the 14th-century French text is rendered by American poet W.S. Merwin (1927-2019). Wood engravings by print maker Roxanne Sexauer, hand colored in this copy by the artist, capture the style of early printed books. And the book itself was printed at the Windhover Press in Iowa City, under the direction of Kim Merker (1932-2013). Handmade white Windhover paper.** Edition of 310 copies, printed between fall 1979 and summer 1981. This is copy 27/50 numbered, signed by the translator and artist, with plates handcolored by the artist.
