Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Step inside the strangest room in the Rolling Stones' catalogue.Their Satanic Majesties Request remains one of the most debated albums the band ever made: colourful, chaotic, ambitious, excessive, beautiful, flawed, and unlike anything else in their career. Released during the psychedelic e…xplosion of 1967, it found the Stones drifting far from their blues and R&B roots into a world of studio experimentation, fantasy imagery, cosmic distance, strange textures, and theatrical disguise. This book explores the album in depth, placing it within the turmoil of 1967, the shadow of Sgt. Pepper, the band's legal pressures, Brian Jones' instrumental imagination, Mick Jagger's psychedelic role-playing, Keith Richards' temporary move away from the riff, and the uneasy balance between genuine experiment and fashionable excess.Across detailed chapters, the book examines every track, including 'She's a Rainbow,' '2000 Light Years from Home,' 'Citadel,' 'In Another Land,' 'The Lantern,' '2000 Man,' and 'On with the Show,' while also exploring the album cover, title, recording atmosphere, commercial success, critical reputation, cult following, and legacy.More than a simple misstep or imitation, Their Satanic Majesties Request stands as the Rolling Stones' great psychedelic fever dream - not their most disciplined album, not their most natural album, but one of their most revealing. For fans of the Rolling Stones, 1960s rock, psychedelic music, classic albums, and the strange turning points that shape legendary bands, this is a deep dive into the moment the world's most dangerous blues band briefly floated far from home.

Add to basketOriginal static lenticular print. 20.3 x 20.3 cm., colour photography, plastic bonded to stiff white card, production details on verso in black. Mount Vernon, New York, Vari-Vue, n.d., c. 1967. £300.00 A few water stains and spots under/within the lenticular's surface, the verso of the card in pristine condition suggesting that…this was not removed from the published album cover but was possibly surplus, perhaps acquired at the Vari-Vue bankruptcy sale, or sent out as a sample at the time. There is a much larger version that lore sug- gests was only issued in a small run of a 100 plus and also a smaller version, possibly issued for the eight-track format. Provenance: Julio Mario Santo Domingo was possibly the world's most assiduous col- lector of The Stones, he also had the much larger and rarer version of this framed in baroque gilt. The famous ? 3D' image stuck on to the front cover of the second of the two grand, psychedelic concept album projects of 1967, the first being ?Sgt Pepper' and the second was ?Their Satanic Majesties Request'. Cooper did very similar photography for both albums and constructed the ?Satanic Majesties' set with the rather wayward input of The Stones and Artchie. The period in which the record was made was a very hedonistic and druggy one. Richards cannot recall much of the actual recording sessions saying, 'It's a total blank. We were pretty much the same way we were on the cover' (p-114 Dora Loewenstein et al ? According to The Rolling Stones, 2003.) but does remember going to New York with Cooper where he met a Japanese '.guy who had a camera that could produce a 3-D effect. We built the set on acid, went all around New York getting the flowers and the rest of the props; we were pretty much the same way we were on the cover'. 218728.

Yesterday'sPapers is a song by The Rolling Stones from their 1967 album, Betweenthe Buttons. It was the openin…g track on the UK version of that albumand was included on the US version. It is an example of the Stones'interest in psychedelic rock at the time (which would by furtherexplored on the album Their Satanic Majesties Request). It was the firstsong Mick Jagger wrote completely on his own for a Rolling Stones album. The song is directed at Jagger's ex-girlfriend Chrissie Shrimpton[citation needed], whose relationship with Jagger at the time turnedsour. Recorded in late 1966, it showcases Brian Jones on marimba andharpsichord, the lead instruments in the song, Keith Richards on adistorted guitar, with Charlie Watts on drums, and Bill Wyman on bass. With the exception of Watts, the song features all of the Stones doingbacking vocals and harmonies. A bootleg recording exists of an alternatebacking track, that includes strings.
