He and H. E. Bates were friends and wrote to one another. Julia Braddock was possibly his daughter? Bates had four children, two sons, and two daughters called Ann & Judith. H. E. Bates (1905 Ð 1974) was an author best known for 'The Darling Buds of May' and 'Love for Lydia'. browned.
