Contemporary half-calf and marbled paper boards. Lacks the front board, back board detached, else good or better with some browning only to the pages of the weekly Journal at the back. Contains "Mrs. Leicester's School," by Mary Lamb, sister and collaborator of Charles Lamb, "Wedding Slippers," by Mary Mitford, various lectures delivered before the Athenian Institute and Mercantile Library, and popular literary works of the day.

Original 1/2 leather with morocco spine labels, well worn, rubbed, backstrip torn at ends. Lacks last leaf and endpapers. Some leaves loose towards the front of the volume. Generally fair to good condition only. 830 (of 832) pp. The text consists of 4 siz-month compilations of this periodical, covering from January 1835 to December 1836. This volume appears to represent the entire run of this periodical which featured articles on literature and music, though also including other historical or human interest features. One of these is a short article in the first section which deals with "The Polish Jew Boy." Lomazow 332: "A semimonthly reprint journal based on Chamber's Edinburgh Journal . Contents include a few original articales of interesting Americana and a reprint of Timothy Flint's 'Sketches of the Literature of the United States'. " Kribbs 857.
