A complete set of early reprints of the wonderful Hugh Thomson illustrated editions of Jane Austen's works.  A very good set overall: heavy offsetting to endpapers with occasional spotting and intermittent pencilled underlings throughout, National Portrait Gallery postcard with portrait of Austen pasted to front free endpaper of Pride and Prejudice, ink underlinings restricted only to the Introduction of Emma; spines slightly faded, light shelf wear to extremities, a few small patches of faint marking to cloth.

Complete set in original decorative cloth bindings, with illustrations by C E Brock and H M Brock and edited by R Brimley Johnson. The set is a mixed edition, being either the 3rd or the 4th edition with the exception of Pride and Prejudice Vol I which is a 1st in this form. The bindings have gilt titles to spine and front board. The top page edges are gilt; the remaining edges are uncut. All have decorative endpapers, half titles (with edition information to verso), colour frontispieces, decorative titles, illustration lists, and text with 5 further colour plates. Some have their original page markers. The majority of tissue guards have been replaced. Contents are generally clean and sound with the occasional small mark or light spot. There are a few professional paper repairs.
