The Edinburgh Folio was printed by T. and A. Constable in Edinburgh. Paper covered boards. The bindings are in good condition only with wear and some soiling. The spines are ragged and there is some loss to spine ends and one of the volumes has no spine. Fore edges untrimmed. Offsetting to endpapers. Contents clean with no inscriptions. No Binding. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 2pp. Single sheet, folded. Handwritten letter by Rolfe, dated June 20, 1890 and sent from Cambridge, Massachusetts. Rolfe writes to DuPrat & Co, updating them on the prospects of his providing an introduction for a single play they'd like to publish, in light of his commitment to Harpers. He commits to do so for fifty dollars. The play was Antony and Cleopatra. The DuPrat edition appeared the following year, a DeLuxe edition in a run of 150 copies, 50 on Japan paper and 100 on Holland paper. The edition contained seventeen illustrations by Paul Avril. Rolfe was a foremost Shakespearean scholar in his day, and the addition of his introduction was a stamp of approval for the edition. Interesting piece of publishing history and Shakespearean scholarship. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Signed by Author(s). Letter.
