A first edition, first printing of Sharpe's Sword by Bernard Cornwell, published by Collins in 1983. A near fine book signed and inscribed by the author in blue ink to the title page, very slight pushing to head of spine, light browning to text block. In a near fine unclipped wrapper with small chip to head of spine, fading to spine, light browning to rear panel. Jacket illustration by Ian Robertson. In illustrated green cloth bound slip case with light handling wear. ADDITIONALLY, Cornwell has written and initialled above the map in the prelims "This map is a Collins invention, BC". Rare with these idiosyncrasies. Sharpe's Sword by Bernard Cornwell is an historical novel set during the Napoleonic Wars. It follows Richard Sharpe, a British officer, during the Salamanca campaign of 1812. Tasked with uncovering a French spy, Sharpe faces deadly battles and personal challenges. The novel blends action with historical detail, showcasing Sharpe's resourcefulness and courage. As he duels with his nemesis, Colonel Leroux, Sharpe's determination is tested, highlighting themes of loyalty, honour and the brutal realities of war.
