dj. Very Good (covers nice, contents clean & tight with a small 69 in a circle stamped on the front endpaper- possibly a remainder copy); minor wear (short tear with tiny creases base of front cover) d/j. 8vo., green cloth in dust jacket; 192 pages First Edition. Brief signed presentation from Spillane on the front endpaper: ?Hi Ron! Mickey Spillane.? Mickey Spillane [1918?2006] was an American crime novelist (and a New Jersey guy), whose stories often feature his signature detective character, Mike Hammer. More than 225 million copies of his books have sold internationally. Spillane was also an occasional actor, once even playing Hammer himself in Ring of Fear (1954). Ron is a Chicago-based book collector who amassed a large mystery genre collection. In 1946, Spillane, an established comic-book writer created the private-eye character Mike Danger for proposed comic-book or comic-strip publication. Unable to sell the project as a comic, he reworked the story as the novel I Jury,? converting Mike Danger to Mike Hammer and supporting character Holly to Velda. Signed.
