Blue cloth, embossed gilt lettering on the front panel and spine. 44 Sonnets, each has the first letter gilt and decorated in blue and red by illustrator Valenti Angelo. This "is a sequence of 44 love sonnets by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, chronicling her courtship and deep love for Robert Browning, moving from initial doubt and fear (due to her frail health and domineering father) to joyous acceptance, culminating in her famous declaration in Sonnet 43, "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways". The title was a private joke, a disguise for their personal nature, referencing Robert's nickname for her, 'my little Portuguese'.". Signed by Illustrator(s). Book.

25,5 x 18 cm. 54 Seiten. Nachtblauer ecrasierter Orig.-Maroquinband mit Rückentitel und Kastenvergoldung, dreifachen Deckelfileten, Steh- u. Innenkantenvergoldung und Kopfgoldschnitt. In Orig.-Schuber. (Signiert: Officina Bodoni FEC:). - Mardersteig 12. - Schauer, Bd. II,78.
