They are personal, autobiographical to some extent." Cox prepared four different sizes of original Blind Drawings, the smallest measuring 7 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches and the largest measuring almost 12 x 16 1/2 inches. The present portfolio represents some of Cox's finest achievements using this idiosyncratic mode of drawing. Far from a mere curiosity, Cox's blind drawings clearly reflect a spiritual accomplishment of a high order; though the result of an unconventional discipline, the drawings are marked with the elegance of line and subtlety of feeling that come only from long submission to the constraint of technique.
