POÈME EN FAC-SIMILÉ AUTOGRAPHE ILLUSTRÉ PAR RAOUL UBAC In-4°, (285 x 230 mm), [19] ff., broché, couverture illustrée. Édition originale de ce poème illustré de par Raoul Ubac de 3 hors-texte (dont un en double-page) et d'une composition en couleurs sur les deux plats de couverture. Le texte est reproduit en fac-similé autographe. Exemplaire non-numéroté avec les hors-texte en noir. Tirage limité à 200 exemplaires, dont 10 avec des à-plats passés à la main par l'artiste. Cet ouvrage est issu de la collection « Poésie et critique » (dirigée par Georges-Emmanuel Clancier) reproduisant en fac-similé l'écriture des poètes. « Les Falaises de Taormina » reparaîtra dans le recueil Treize poèmes (1960). Agent de diffusion de la presse clandestine sous l'Occupation, Jean Lescure dirigea notamment la revue Messages au positionnement anti-NRF. Proche de Giono, Bachelard, Char, Éluard ou Malraux, Lescure participa aux réunions de l'Oulipo (dont il fut le premier historien), au Collège de Pataphysique, et se lia avec les peintres de la nouvelle École de Paris, dont Raoul Ubac. Il avait rencontré ce-dernier en 1938 alors que, proche du groupe surréaliste, Ubac pratiquait encore la photographie. Il abandonna cet art dans l'après-guerre pour se consacrer à la peinture et à la gravure. Lescure contribua à orienter ses recherches dans ce domaine, l'introduisant notamment à l'oeuvre de Jean Bazaine. Quelques feuillets roussis. Légères rousseurs à la couverture.

A beautiful copy of this novel, set in Sicily. The edition comprised two limited editions and a trade edition. A Japon of 2 copies and 10 on Papier de Hollande. Our copy is one of the Van Gelder / Hollande, although the number hasn't been written on the limitation, so it may be an HC copy for the author. Beautiful binding by BLANCHETIÈRE, signed to the front end paper. Brown three quarters morocco with matching marbled boards. Attractive design of leaf patterns in two shades of brown to the spine. Gilt titles to the spine. In fine condition, with just a touch of handling. The book has been signed by Doderet to the half title page, with an inscription to LOUIS LOVIOT. To one of the initial pages is an original silver gelatin photograph of the author. This has offset in a rather attractive way to the facing page, with a sepia negative image. Original green paper covers are bound in - these are in excellent condition. The 340 pages of the work are cut in differing sizes (as is common in a French large paper copy), and are in very good, clean condition. To page 290/291, the binder has inserted a postcard, addressed to Loviot, (and dated 1905). The postcard shows young boys swimming on a beach, and bears the title. "Monelli alla pesce della arcele." Overall a lovely example of this work. André Doderet is best known for his work on Italian literature, he notably translated Gabriele d'Annunzio. Louis Loviot, (1885-1918) was a French librarian and author, who amassed a fine collection of works. 200 by 140mm (7¾ by 5½ inches). .

First edition. With an attractive hand written signed dedication to the author Jules Renard. Original pale green soft covers with attractive art nouveau decoration and detailing. Clean, with a little darkening to the covers. Small spot to the bottom of the front cover. Pages of the book are a little darkened and with light foxing. Otherwise in excellent condition. 340 pages. 18.5cm x 12cm. André Doderet (1879-1949) was a french author. We believe this to be Doderet's first published work - conforms to FRBNF30345386, and WorldCat / OCLC: 457887175 (although both state publisher is D. Tassel). Jules Renard was a French author (1864 - 1910). He is best known for his novel Poil de carotte (1894), an ironic and autobiographical account of his unhappy childhood marked by lack of affection. Despite a difficult childhood, he was happily married and had two children. Renard was a founder member of the literary publication Mercure de France in 1889. .

Kupferstich von Ludwig Lincke, dat. 1874, 54 x 75 cm. Thieme-Becker Bd. XXIII, S. 235. - Der Berliner Landschaftsmaler, Kupferstecher und Radierer wurde 1822 geboren. Er studierte an der Berliner Akademie unter Heinrich Fincke. Beeinflußt wurde er von E. Biermann und F.W. Schirmer. Lincke starb vor 1886 in Berlin. - Einige Randeinrisse sorgfältig geschlossen. In der Platte signiert und datiert. - Abzug des Kapitalblattes vor aller Schrift.
