[Topography] PROOF COPY. Octavo (22 x 14cm), pp.239; [18]. With two maps and numerous leaves of photographic illustrations tipped in to rear. Publisher's orange pictorial softcovers. Leaves bright and clean, some rubbing to rear cover interior. Faint toning and marking to edges. Some marking and toning to softcovers. Rubbing to spine, wear to cover extremities. Very good. 'There are almost as many books about the Thames as there are about love. There will always be more; for the river is always changing its clothes' (preamble). Written by A.P. Herbert, who came to know the Thames during his time in the River Emergency Service during World War II. As a proof, this copy lists only a probable published price and publication date, as well as containing an incomplete 'list of illustrations' page.
