Condition: Gut. S. 73-83. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 550 Sonderdruck, geklammert in Papiereinband.

Sonderdruck, Klebebindung. Condition: Gut. S. 322-336. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 550.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. xvii, 1 leaf [half-title], 152 pp, 1 leaf. Original cloth. Very Good. First Edition ("First Printing" is so stated on the verso of the title page.). INSCRIBED BY THEODOSIUS DOBZHANSKY: "To Prof. Percy Lilly/ with many thanks/ and best regards/ from the author". This was the second volume in the Perspectives in Humanism series, which was planned and edited by Ruth Nanda Anshen. Dobzhansky was on the "Board of Editors" for this series. Dobzhansky does not need an introduction but the recipient of this copy may. Quoting from an obituary online, Percy Lilly (1927-2023) "graduated from Concord College (now University) in 1950 with a BS in Biology. He received his Master's in Botany from West Virginia University in 1951 and a PhD in Botany from Penn State University in 1956. . . . He taught at Heidelberg College (now University) [Tiffin OH] from 1956-1998, serving as a professor of science for 32 years. . . . During his tenure at Heidelberg, Percy taught a wide diversity of courses focusing on biology, botany, microbiology and genetics. . . . The designation of the Percy Lilly Campus Forest at Heidelberg University was approved by the Heidelberg Trustees in the Fall, 2022, and honors Percy's single-handed oversight of the planting of more than 60 diverse species of trees during his tenure. During his life Percy ranged far from his origins in rural West Virginia, travelling with students, colleagues, and/or family, to Costa Rica, China, Columbia, Brazil, Belize, Guatemala, Italy, Switzerland, and extensively in the US." NOTE ABOUT DUST JACKET: You can see the front flap of a dust jacket in one of the photos, as this copy does have a dust jacket. BUT it is in poor condition, with large pieces missing from the spine portion of the dust jacket. I am offering this copy as if it does not have a dust jacket. However, because this copy has been protected by a dust jacket, it is a good candidate for a dust jacket supplied from an inexpensive, unsigned. copy. I have not done that (yet), but a buyer might want to consider doing it. Inscribed by Author(s).
