In very good bright red cloth boards, blind stamped vertical ruled lines to front with publisher's logo; black titles to spine. The boards are tight, straight and unmarked; spine and edges firm. Clean, white end papers. Tanned cut edges. The text block is flat and firm; tanned, mostly around the edges. No dedications etc. In good yellow dust jacket with image of two men fighting and blue and red titles. The jacket is quite clean, edge-worn with chips on top and tail ends. Not clipped. In quality plastic jacket.

First Crime Club edition of this scarce title of espionage, murder, and treachery featuring Roland Standish and Tiny Carteret as the detectives. This jacket includes a Crime Club promotion on the back cover announcing that they have adopted a new progressive price reduction for the full list of the titles, and all will be first editions including titles by Wallace, Rohmer, King, and others.

With the dust-jacket illustrated by Spurrier, priced at 7/6 to spine. Light offsetting to endpapers; text lightly browned. Spine lightly sunned. Rather worn jacket extensively repaired and restored, with tape showing to both sides, large clip to rear flap. Very good in a good wrapper. The second mystery to feature Ronald Standish.

Covers are completely unmarked and unblemished. In original VG dust jacket that has a notch to the top edge of the back cover. A bright example.
