Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for F/O name on the property of part of the front pastedown. Book Condition: Very Good; bumping and wear through all tips; light rubbing to boards. No DJ. Artistic design boards in orange and white design in metal comb binding. Clean internals. 212 pp 4to. The most important feature of this book is the systematic approach undertaken by Mr. Biegeleisen in presenting a library of typefaces with such clarity and consistency. The book contains over 700 typefaces but only 75 have been featured for large viewing and analysis. This selection represents a good one from the practical point of view of the typographer, artist and layout man. Each featured typeface is shown in its entirety from A to Z and in jumbo size, so that it may be clearly studied, analyzed, copied or traced. In addition--and this is a most helpful feature--there is a thorough analysis of each type in terms of its design origin, characteristics and practical uses. A unique self-measuring pica scale tells at a glance the casting width of 6 or 7 sizes of each typeface shown, in a graduated reduction scale. A clean very presentable copy.
