This volume, in its various editions (1942, 1944, and 1949), and the coffee table book, The World In Vogue, from 1963, are the only publications of this essay that appeared originally in Vogue Magazine, February, 1939. It is otherwise not available. From the opening paragraph, "At the end of the summer, the big trout would be out in the centre of the stream; they were leaving the pools along the upper part of the river and dropping down to spend the winter in the deep water of the canyon.
