Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. xvi, 557pp, tan cloth with red and black decoration and lettering, overall clean and bright, with minor shelf lean, and foxing / toning at pastedowns, also ink name at front fly, in a dust jacket with occasional shallow chips, and several archival repairs noted, now housed in protective Brodart. This volume, in its various editions (1942, 1944, and 1949), and the coffee table book, The World In Vogue, from 1963, are the only publications of this essay that appeared originally in Vogue Magazine, February, 1939. It is otherwise not available. From the opening paragraph, "At the end of the summer, the big trout would be out in the centre of the stream; they were leaving the pools along the upper part of the river and dropping down to spend the winter in the deep water of the canyon. Endpages are toned, but text is unmarked with a warm patina. Binding is tight with hinges fully attached. Light brown cloth boards are clean and pointed with red lines, black lettering, and a green marker line on top edge of text-block. Dust jacket is protected in mylar with toning, closed tears along the extremities, clipped dj flaps, and a stain on spine. Assumed first edition, no other dates listed.
