Add to basket1st Ed. 5 vols. Sm. Slim 4to. 48pp. per vol. Many ills. including several in colour by Michelle Robson, James Cawthorn, Jocelyn Alomnd, Stephanie Little, Rodney Matthews etc. Good in original stapled coloured pictorial limp paper Rodney Matthews and Eddie Jones wrapps., very minor signs of wear. 'Vortex was a glossy magazine with some interior illustrations in full colour. The first three covers, by Rodney Matthews, suggested an orientation towards fantasy which was not evident in the actual magazine. Issues Nos. 1-4 serialized Michael Moorcock's The End of All Songs (1976); No. 5 for May contained the first instalment of The Chaos Weapon (1977) by Colin Kapp. Other stories were for the most part experimental pieces by previously unknown authors, such as Mark Ambient, many of whom were doubtless pseudonymous. Seddon stated that Ravan Christchild, though a pseudonym, was not his own. There were several interesting Interviews in each issue. The magazine proved too expensive to sustain; the publisher fired Seddon and tried to hire Peter Weston to continue the magazine in a more traditional direction, but this move came to naught.' US$59.
