With 16 B&W vintage photographs taken by the author's wife of the community of Stringtown County, Kentucky. John Uri Lloyd (19 April 1849 â?? 9 April 1936) was an American pharmacist and leader of the eclectic medicine movement who was influential in the development of pharmacognosy, ethnobotany, economic botany, and herbalism. He also wrote novels set in northern Kentucky. This is an excellent example of American Literary regionalism. Literary critics argue that nineteenth-century literary regionalism helped preserve American regional identities while also contributing to domestic reunification efforts after the Civil War. A very handsome copy. LOC SSS-18.
