Original antique lithograph, original color in outline and wash. Waterloo (German [?v??t?lo?], Dutch [??a?t?rlo?], French [wat??lo]; in Walloon graphy Waterlô) is a municipality in the province of Walloon Brabant in Belgium about 15 kilometers south of Brussels. On 18 June 1815, the Battle of Waterloo took place in its surroundings. Waterloo has an area of ??21.41 square kilometers. The municipality is located a few kilometers south of the Brussels-Capital Region. It is separated from the Brussels-Capital Region only by the municipalities of Hoeilaart and Sint-Genesius-Rode, both of which are in Flemish Brabant. Since the end of the 19th century, Waterloo has been located directly on the Dutch-French language border on the French-speaking side, which runs through residential areas here. The place name is of Dutch origin and refers to the water-rich, swampy area and an old term for forest: Lo(o). (Wikipedia) In excellent condition. 32.8 x 57,4 cm (13 x 22,5 inches).
