Softcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition. Folio. Single bifolium making four pages. Edgewear including some small tears to the bottom edge, separating a bit at the bottom of the fold, and rubbing to the exterior, still a very good and complete copy. For voice and piano. Plate imprint, "Robinson Crusoe 2." The back cover features a sample of "If I Knock the 'L' Out of Kelly 'It Would Still Be Kelly to Me'" along with an illustration. The front cover is pure nightmare fuel, featuring Al Jolson in blackface alongside some bizarre goat creature that appears to have a bottle of liquor hanging around its neck. While the lyrics mention drinking, there's no mention of this ungodly monster. A true oddity.

Softcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition thus. Folio. Single bifolium with a single sheet insert making six pages. A small tear to the front cover, edgewear including chipping and tearing, music shop sticker on the front cover, and some soiling to the exterior, still a very good and complete copy. For voice and piano. *The Princess* is a book written in blank verse by Tennyson, the wording here makes it difficult to tell if A.J. Goodrich adapted it into a play, or if someone else did and Goodrich just arranged the music. Further complicating things is the fact that the lyrics to this song are from Tennyson's poem "The Letter," which does not appear in *The Princess*, it is part of the song cycle, *The Window; or, The Songs of the Wrens*, which Arthur Sullivan wrote the music for; why this song does not appear here under its original title is unclear. And the final twist in this labyrinthian tale is that in 1884, Sullivan, along with his longtime collaborator W.S. Gilbert, created a comic opera based on *The Princess* but titled it *Princess Ida*. *OCLC* locates six holdings of this song from four different publishers, none of which mention the play "The Princess" nor credit an A.J. Goodrich, and all were published earlier than this edition (published by Edgar S. Werner) which is unrecorded by *OCLC*. One of the more confounding pieces of sheet music we've come across.
