Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. *** LIMITED 1ST EDITION/1ST PRINTING OF ONLY 500 COPIES*** ABOUT THE BOOK This copy is flat-signed on a notecard by Steinbeck that was then attached below the limited edition statement by Viking (see second picture). I have seen this a few times over the past 10 years with this limited edition and am unclear if this was then sent out via the publisher to special recipients chosen by Steinbeck or by the publisher? A scarce limited edition of one of Steinbeck's best works (and his last novel). Quite scarce when found signed, particularly in high-grade condition. There are only a handful of known signed examples - a few signed on attached notecards, and a few signed on the endpapers. Published in 1962 by Viking Press in New York. Limited first edition, first printing as indicated on the special page with limited edition of 500 statement. First Published in 1961 by the Viking Press, Inc. statement on copyright page with no other printings listed. In original dark blue cloth covered boards with mustard yellow endpapers. No dust jacket. Protected in hard acetate archival wrap. CONDITION The book is in NEAR FINE vintage condition. Minimal rubbing to extremities. Spine tips are unrubbed. Boards are clean, colorful and unfaded. Just some spine lean else FINE. Exceptionally clean interior with no writing, stickers, ex libris marks, foxing or wear. Signed by Author(s).
