Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Author(s): John Irving Title: The World According to Garp Publication: New York: Dutton, 1078 Edition: First Edition Description: Octavo, 437pp., Publisher's tan boards, bound in navy blue cloth with gold gilt details. Full numberline to "1". Origina…l first state jacket, with $10.95 price present to front flap. First Edition and first impression, signed by author on half title page in green marker. Book NF approaching fine. There is a smudge on the top board edge but other than that, it's internally clean, the corners are sharp and the binding is straight and solid. Jacket shows some rubbing to the shiny panels as per usual. There is very little, if any fading on this example and that is certainly uncommon. Not Price Clipped. There are no creases or tears. Quite nice. A wonderful example, a collectors copy really, of an iconic book which was turned into a film starring Robin Williams. This is Irving s 4th novel and perhaps the one for which he is best known. Signed by Author(s).

Condition: Fine in about-fine jacket. dj. First printing. Inscribed first edition of this epic and intimate, humorous and tragic story of writer T. S. Garp's life - adapted into a 1984 Oscar-nominated film starring Robin Williams and Glenn Close. The National Book Award-winning THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP established John Irving…'s writing career. A wonderful copy with warm inscription. 9.5'' x 6.25''. Original blue cloth-backed yellow boards with gilt spine lettering. Original unclipped ($10.95) color and gilt dust jacket designed by Leo Manso. Fore-edge machine deckle, red endpapers. 438 pages.
