The boards are clean with bright white titles and firm sharp corners. There is a tiny 2mm split at the foot of the spine and a small ding along the top edge of the front board. Internally the book is very clean with no name inscription or bookplate, and faint toning to a strip on both free endpapers where the dust jacket does not reach. There is just a hint of uniform toning to the books. The dust jacket, which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown), has a little toning to the spine and light dust staining and toning to the edges of the rear panel. There are two closed tears to the front panel measuring 0.8 and 1.3 cm on the front panel. All in all a really lovely 1st edition copy of this John Christopher's first novel.
