2 vols in 1, later half calf and marbled boards, black skiver spine-labels gilt, 8vo, xxiv, 426, [v]-vii, 453, [3] ads. Lowndes describes this as 'An entertaining collection of bibliographical information, with many "extracts from curious works" '. "William Beloe, a pupil of Samuel Parr, and a graduate of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, produced, in 1806-12, six volumes entitled Anecdotes of Literature and Scarce Books, in which he had the advantage of having a large number of rare works placed at his service by many eminent owners of libraries." - CHEAL. This is the first two volumes of Beloe's work (all those originally planned, hence "In two volumes" appears on the title pages) which he subsequently expanded to comprise 6 volumes. With a list of errata and an advertisement for works published by F.C. and J. Rivington, at the end of Vol. II. Contains a wealth of bibliographical information, especially on books of the 15th and 16th centuries, A little rubbed, occasional minor marks to contents but overall a Good clean copy.
