Fourth Edition, Improved [First Edition to be illustrated] 2 Volumes. 8vo. (approx. 22 x 13.5cm) hardbacks in 18th century full tree calf with decorative gilt to spines. Marbled endpapers. Vol. I: 360pp. with engraved frontispiece and decorated title page plus 12 further engraved plates. Vol. II: 432pp. with decorated title page plus 12 further engraved plates. Ink name and date to both title pages have been partially erased, resulting in holes to top of Vol. II title page. Occasional light foxing and small stains, mainly to prelims and plates. The Chaucer Bookshop is situated in a beautiful 18th Century building inside Canterbury's city walls. The building was originally one house but was established as a bookshop in 1956. The adjoining property was also later acquired and the bookshop greatly extended.
