She took up photography at the age of 34 after meeting wildlife photography Richard Kearton. 'Miss Turner has written a very entertaining and at the same time ornithologically interesting account of her experiences as official "watcher " for Scolt Head during 1924 and 1925. Her trials were many . But Miss Turner is a philosopher with a keen sense of humour, and she triumphed over difficulties. . Finally, a word of praise must be given to the illustrations, all of which are good, while many are really beautiful.' - Book Review (H.F. Witherby (1929) British Birds Vol. XXII: 219).
