First edition, first printing. Publisher's original brown cloth with green titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Top edge green. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth a little rubbed and dusty with a few light marks. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the rubbed, nicked and dusty dustwrapper that has several small chips at the spine tips and fold corners. Not price-clipped (7/6 net to the lower front flap). Very scarce in dustwrapper. A collection of essays, prose poems and supernatural tales, the earliest dating from 1890 through to the first publication of Machen's highly regarded, now classic supernatural short story "N".
