Here is "Charles Kingsley's American Notes : Letters From a Lecture Tour,1874". It is a collection of correspondence to his wife, Frances Eliza Grenfell Kingsley. This copy, issued in 1958 by Princeton University Press, presents 24 letters written to his wife, giving his observations (pro and con) of America. While in the United States, Kingsley met Longfellow, Mark Twain, President Grant, and the Governor-General of Canada. This is the First Edition.
Charles Kingsley, (1819 - 1875) was ". an Anglican minister, a university professor, social reformer, historian, novelist and poet. He is particularly associated with Christian socialism, the working men's college, and forming labour cooperatives, which failed, but encouraged later working reforms. He was a friend and correspondent of Charles Darwin." .
"Kingsley was a prolific author, and much involved in various social improvement activities. Some of his many fictional works are: "Yeast" ; "Alton Locke"; "Hypatia"; "Westward Ho!; "The Water Babies: A Fairy Tale for a Land Baby". Aside from his fictional creations, Kingsley published sermons, wrote a few histories, and a variety of other works. In 1859 he was appointed chaplain to Queen Victoria. In 1860, he became Regius Professor of Modern History at the University of Cambridge, and in 1861 a private tutor to the Prince of Wales". (Thanks to Wikipedia for some of the above)

EXTERIOR - Near-negligible wear; gilt lettering is bright; text-block edges are a bit toned, else clear.
BINDING -- Solid. No leaves are detached or loose.
INTERIOR - Clean and free of marking.
DUST-JACKET : Two small stains display on the front panel; the spine panel has considerable staining - none of the staining extends to the binding. The rear panel is a bit toned, else clean.
