Hardback, 8vo. pictorial cloth, 69 pp. printed in black with red recipe headings on parchment coloured paper, 3 folding pages of historical manuscripts, illustrations by the author, covers sunned and marked, contents v.g. and complete with two green silk book markers no dust wrapper. An eccentric item of recipes, little histories, gossipy notes etc. The author was innovative in her table decorations using birds in cages, bowls of freshly gathered vegetables, the heads of lobsters standing upright on a dish surrounded by parsley etc. The recipes are very much of the Edwardian country house genre but the menus are adapted to the Mediterranean climate. She also once rented a flat in Escoffier s villa and used to sit with Mme. Escoffier and listened to many tales of the great chef s experiences in many lands. Seller Inventory # 12899
