[Modern Literature] FIRST UK EDITION, first impression. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.vii [3] 246. Publisher's teal cloth lettered in gilt to spine. With the typographic dust-jacket, priced at 10s 6d. Toning to flyleaf, very small bookseller's sticker front-paste down, toning to edges of textblock, rolling to spine, tearing to dust-jack spine torn 2cm and 1cm tears at top and bottom respectively. Very good. E.M. Forster was a British novelist, essayist, and social and literary critic. In this first British Edition, there is an introduction by the author and the preface has been slightly revised. Including the important early dystopia, 'The Machine Stops' (1909).
