Fourth edition. Illustrated throughout. A detailed and comprehensive guide to the main principles of modern cookery, with reference to the different tools and utensils around the kitchen. With recipes from albumen water to Yorkshire pudding. Written by Jessie Lindsay, a Scottish professor of the Household Arts Department at King's College University London, and V. H. Mottram, an English physiologist. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spines with the odd small mark to the boards. Front hinge just starting but firm to The Book of Meals. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd small spot. The occasional handling mark from use as a recipe book. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpapers and pastedown. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper of The Book of Meals.
