Add to basketFirst edition of these notes capturing von Neumann's thought as he developed his major contributions to lattice theory: his concepts of a "continuous geometry" and a "regular ring". Von Neumann, a founding member of the Institute for Advanced Study, delivered these lectures in the spring of 1936: they were recorded by Dr L. Roy Wilcox (1912-1999), who had just obtained his doctorate in mathematics from Chicago. Von Neumann regarded Wilcox's notes highly enough to make efforts to publish them: his other work intervened but they did eventually appear, posthumously, in the Continuous Geometry volume of 1960. Quarto (276 x 216 mm). Together, 76 mimeographed leaves, extensive formulae in the text. Original yellow quarter buckram, light grey stiff paper covers. Light bumping, faint sunning to spine, contents crisp and fresh: a very good copy indeed.
