First edition thus (vol. one), the rest first editions, first impressions; 5 vols, 8vo (230 x 150 mm); light offsetting to endpapers of vol. one, ownership stamp to front free endpapers of vols 2-4, else unmarked internally; publisher's blue, brown, green, grey-green, and yellow cloth, gilt and black lettering to spines, some discolouration to extremities (more so to vol. 5), with the unclipped pictorial dustjackets, Newbery Medal to jacket of second vol., slight toning and dust-soiling to rear panels, moderate edge-wear to first 2 vols with tape repairs to top edges of front panels, else very good. Complete set of Susan Cooper's classic fantasy series, introducing readers to a parallel world of old magic and an epic battle between light and dark. The Grey King won both the Newbery Medal, recognising the year's 'most distinguished contribution to American literature for children', and the inaugural Welsh Tir na n-Og Award for English-language books with Welsh background. The final volume in the series, Silver on the Tree, also won the annual Tir na n-Og Award. Over Sea, Under Stone was first published by Jonathan Cape in 1965.
