It documents the building of the Divinity School during the fifteenth century and of Duke Humfrey's Library above it, and reveals a story - not unfamiliar today - of ambitious building plans thwarted for lack of funds, of tensions between those who commission a building and those who build it, and of the tendency of those responsible for large construction projects to change their minds in midstream.
