Ex.-lib. with sm. ink stamp to pastedowns title page plates explanatory leaves and occasionally elsewhere in text, inscription to front f.e.p., sl. remains of glue from tape to pastedowns, title page and flyleaf spotted, some sporadic spotting throughout, sl. thumbing to first few leaves, occasional pencil marking, half black morocco with blue cloth boards, soiled and rubbed, corners bumped with some wear and sl. scuffing, raised bands and remains of gilt title to sl. rubbed spine. Graphically illustrated plates.Richard Carmichael was President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and one of the Surgeons of the Lock Hospital, Dublin. This Hospital was one of the most extensive institutions in Europe, for the exclusive reception of patients affected with venereal disease. US$223.
