(London: Macmillan and Co., Limited 1935). First UK Edition. Publisher's oatmeal-plain green cloth with blue lettering to the spine. A previous owner's book-plate to the front paste-down of Roy Lewis (1913-1996) who studied at University College, Oxford and the London School of Economics and was a writer and small press printer. Offsetting to both sets of end-papers and scattered foxing to the fore-edge still a bright and clean VG+ copy (with NO INSCRIPTIONS). In the RARE near fine (or better) D/W priced 4s 6d net to the inside flap (as called for). The D/W is darkened to the spine (as usual) with a slither of loss at the head. Arthur Cecil Pigou was a teacher and builder of the School of Economics at Cambridge University and best known for his work on welfare economics. He trained and influenced many Cambridge economists who went on to take chairs of economics around the World. This book contains 4 lectures on 1930's issues delivered at the London School of Economics in November 1934 together with 2 others previously given in Cambridge. Their titles are: An Economist's Apologia; Economy and Waste; The Balance of Trade; Inflation, Deflation and Reflation; State Action and laissez-faire; and The Economics of Restrictions. Rare in D/W.
