Dr Erich Schultz-Ewerth (1870-1935), colonial officer and ethnologist, was the last governor of German Samoa. In his "memoirs" he describes the economic and political significance of Samoa, the colonization, the South Seas as a colonial region, as well as polygamy, cannibalism and burial ceremonies.
