Engraved title-page and 49 plates, two with original colouring. First Edition. Small folio. [316 x 223 x 19 mm]. Bound in the original Roxburghe-style quarter olive-green goatskin, red paper boards, spine lettered in gilt, untrimmed edges. (Expert repairs to joints, edges of the boards rubbed). A very good copy with Proof impressions of the plates which are unusually free of foxing. Two bookplates have been discreetly removed. Acquired with the Roy Porter collection in 2002. First edition, 4to (280 x 220 mm), 50 engraved plates (including engraved decorative title, 2 hand-coloured), some quite heavy soiling and foxing, Roxburghe-style olive-green roan, red paper boards, expertly rebacked to style. Although quite badly foxed, this is a rare work.
