lg8vo illus maroon cloth, gilt illus and titles to cover and spine, gilt severely faded, fntcvr decorated with naval battle scene in pressed gilt ; front cover shaken, Separated at front end paper gutter, but with hinges and pages securely intact; rather worn ;ow VG/ndj: 542pp; color frontis of Jap emperor; a few other color plates (one of which is a painting by Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany ilus euro nations at war with China, the original Yellow Peril!); numerous fullpage photographs of Japanese and Russian troops in the field, as well as photos depicting uniforms and equipment of Japanese troops; several maps, and photographs of all of the leaders ; wonderful period journalistic cartoons featuring the work of J. H. Donahey, Rehse, Maybell, and others, along with black and white reproductions of paintings by Wilkinson, Nikko, Charles Delacy, Woodville, and others; "Startling stories of the war as told by the heroes themselves" as written by "The Greatest Descriptive Writer the World has Ever Known." Here is a typical Everett production, in the vein of his books on the San Franciso earthquake and the disaster of the Titanic. This particular title is uncommon.
