A rarely-seen catalogue of an exhibition held from 6 to 14 December 1934 : the volume comprises a "Catalogue of Old, Rare and Curious Works on Magic, Witchcraft, Legeredemain, Charlatanism, Etc. from 1490 A.D. to the Present Day", with an interesting and substantial foreword (pp 1-14) by Harry Price. The catalogue (pp 15 to the end) is arranged by author, with entries giving author, title (sometimes abbreviated) place and year of publication. Price's foreword notes that the catalogue includes " a number of rare or curious works on psychical research, spiritualism, black magic, astrology, legerdemain, witchcraft, blood miracles, prodigies, divination, fakirism, faith-healing, ecstasy, diablerie, charlatanism, automata, vaudeville telepathy, feats of endurance, human transposition, mental magic, miraculous cures, suspended animation, levitation, regurgitation, mnemonics, and frauds of mediums." He goes on to comment on various works under the headings: Rare Work on Survival [Lavater's Of Ghotes and Spirites, 1572]; Rare Works on Witchcraft; Privately-circulated Works on Spiritualism; The Rarest Books on Legerdemain; London Charlatans; Amazing Case of Mary Toft; Princess Caraboo; and London Ghosts. Wrappers duststained and with some marks, otherwise Good.
