Printed for private circulation. Thin Octavo. 56pp. Complete with four engraved plates. In the original textured red cloth, gilt title and decorative blind ruling. Minor wear to extremities. Hinges just beginning to split at head & tail of spine. Couple of minor ink spots to boards. Former owner's neat signature to corner of f.f.e.p. Some spotting to front and rear blanks. Gutter cracked at pages 16/17 (see images).Otherwise a Very Good unreconstructed copy. Very scarce. A description of the author's travels through parts of Switzerland, Italy, and the Tyrol in 1852 including his attempts on Mont Blanc. Reference: Meckly 40; Neate B211. James Benjamin Redfoord Bulwer MA, QC, JP (1820 - 1899) was an English lawyer and a Member of the British Parliament. He was also a cricketer, and played seven first-class matches for Cambridge University Cricket Club and the Marylebone Cricket Club between 1841 and 1845. Bulwer was an MP supporting the Conservative Party: he represented Ipswich during the period of the Disraeli government from 1874 to 1880, and Cambridgeshire from 1881 to 1885.
