FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp., 233. Publisher's black cloth with gilt titles to spine, in an unclipped, pictorial dust-jacket. Beautifully illustrated by Bill Sanderson. With an original pen and ink illustration by Bill Sanderson dated "23rd May 2013" to half-title, duplicating the roundel illustration to the dust-jacket. A fine copy. "The Fall of Arthur" is a posthumously published poem on the legend of King Arthur. Tolkien began work on the poem in the early 1930s, but abandoned work around 1934 in favour of "The Hobbit". It is said he later expressed a desire to return to work on it, but it remains unfinished nonetheless. Seller Inventory # 12773
