First edition, first printing, of Woolf's satirical pamphlet, in which the occupants of a zoo debate the follies of humans. It has been compared to the social critiques of Swift and Kipling, and Victoria Glendinning has suggested that it "casts a beam ahead toward Orwell's Animal Farm". It is the seventh work in the first series of Hogarth Essays, and rare in collectible condition. Woolmer 79; Glendinning, pp. 240-221. Octavo. Original cream wrappers printed in black. With original glassine. Wrappers slightly rubbed and soiled, contents foxed. A very good copy indeed in toned glassine, spine split at head with a little loss. Seller Inventory # 162358
