First edition. 192 pages. Formerly belonging to Christopher Brunel (1920-1988), son of Adrian, with his bookplate to the front pastedown. The book has been bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe in dark blue half-Morocco, lettered and decorated in gilt, with raised bands to the spine, gilt to all edges of the text block, patterned paper covered boards and matching endpapers front and rear. The book is firmly bound, the leather is slightly rubbed and the spine and the paper to the boards are slightly toned and marked, the binding probably contemporary to the date of publication. The text block is slightly toned and musty, with minor marks & short closed tears to the edges of a few hastily opened pages. A guide to film-making from one of the major English directors and screenwriters of the silent era. This, a handsome, expensively bound example, with a close family association.
