Add to basketFirst Readers Library edition, issued in the striking 'Draycott' illustrated dustwrapper. Publisher's burgundy paper-covered boards lettered in gilt to the spine and upper board. A very good copy indeed; a little rubbing and bruising to the extremities, though remaining square and firm throughout. The notoriously poor-quality pulp paper evenly toned, as almost invariably encountered, otherwise clean and free from ownership inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the scarce dustwrapper, rubbed and torn with a handful of small chips and short closed tears, though presenting remarkably well overall. Scarce. £175 An especially desirable early horror title, this edition is notable as arguably the first true film tie-in issue, with the concluding paragraph of the editor's note adapted to reflect the altered cinematic storyline. The Gaumont British production *The Ghoul* starred Boris Karloff as Professor Morlant, alongside Ralph Richardson in his screen debut, and is widely regarded as the first major British horror film.
